Dr. Andrea Rizzo is running for reelection to the Great Valley School Board in Region 1. During her first term, Andrea helped guide the opening of a state-of-the-art 5/6 center building and the purchase of additional acreage at KD Markley to expand green space on campus, and she asked detailed questions to increase transparency on spending, curriculum and extracurriculars.
Andrea currently serves as the chair of the Instructional Technology and Curriculum committee and is the Great Valley School District representative to the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU). For three years she also served as a board representative to the Parent Key Communicator committee.
Professionally, Andrea holds a Ph.D. in applied developmental psychology and birth-kindergarten teaching credentials. She spent 20 years conducting educational research, working to understand the impact of various curriculum, professional development and extracurricular interventions on students, teachers and school communities. Recently she joined the Patient Access Support Services training team at Bristol Myers Squibb, where her role in supporting adult learners has deepened her understanding and appreciation for the needs of our Great Valley high school students.
Andrea is running for reelection because she cares deeply about the Great Valley School District and our community. As her two children make their way through the district, she has firsthand experience with how board and district decisions impact families. Given the opportunity to continue serving Region 1, she will prioritize safety, nourishment and exceptional academic instruction with financial sustainability.
Andrea believes ALL students have the right to a nurturing and rigorous education that allows them to be supported, challenged and successful as they prepare for their next steps after high school. She also believes that as our society and demographics as a community evolve, so should our district to welcome students with diverse needs and prepare them for the academic, employment or military opportunities awaiting them upon graduation.
